TRAUMA AND NARRATIVEVol 22 No 2 (2024)
We are pleased to present the two new issues of the international Slavic online journal „Philological Studies“. The first issue of the 2024 edition presents papers focusing on the everyday and the unusual in narratives, religious language, environmental themes in children’s picturebooks, comparative phraseology and the representation of military and war themes in the Yugoslav punk movement and the New Wave. Linguistic research focuses on constructions in Slavic languages. The second issue deals with trauma in literature and examines re-traumatization after memory, collective traumas such as natural disasters and wars, and the treatment of loss in contemporary poems and novels. Sixteen articles in total have been published in this year’s edition. This year, the edition was edited by the Institute of Literature and Art from Belgrade (Serbia) in cooperation with its partners: the Institute of Macedonian Literature at the University of „St. Cyril and Methodius“ in Skopje (Macedonia); the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb (Croatia); and the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). On this occasion, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the creation of this year’s „Philological Studies“, especially the authors, who, with their contributions, once again confirmed the importance of regional and international connections in the field of humanities.

Philological StudiesVol 19 No 2 (2021)
Dear colleagues,
We present the new, nineteenth volume of the international online Slavistics journal Philological Studies. Members of this year's main editorial board, in agreement with other editorial boards of the journal, decided to dedicate the first issue to the topic Aspects of youth cultures and youth literatures in the Slavic world, the emphasis being on the exploration of youth cultures and literatures in the actual and past Slavic contexts. Authors, who consider these issues from national and comparative perspectives, deal with the following subjects: languages and discourses of youth literatures, youth discourses, Slavic youth literatures (classics and contemporary authors), illustrations and picture books, evaluation of youth literatures, trends in contemporary youth literatures, youth literary systems, intercultural mediation and translation of youth literary texts and reception in the target culture; contentious issues in youth literature. In the first issue, the articles are divided into five permanent sections of our journals, most of which pertain to the section Literature in an Intertextual Context.
The second, non-thematic issue combines papers on Slavic literatures, languages, cultures and cultural history. We have collected papers of numerous authors from several European university centres and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them.
This volume has been prepared by the editors from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) with the support and in cooperation with our standing partners: the Institute for Macedonian Literature of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (North Macedonia), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb (Croatia) and the Faculty of Philology of the Perm State University (Russia) and the Institute for Literature and Arts Belgrade (Serbia).

Philological studiesVol 18 No 2 (2020)
Dear colleagues,
We present the new, eighteenth issue of the international online Slavistics journal Philological Studies. Members of this year's main editorial board, in agreement with other editorial boards of the journal, decided to dedicate the first issue to the topic Between trauma and exile, nostalgia, and nostos. The emphasis was on the exploration of the notion of exile as a dominant contemporary theme, on the temporal, cultural and physical alienation of the individual in the postmodern world, the unstable and changing identity in exile, and the problems of memory and oblivion, trauma and nostalgia, time and space, social and spiritual isolation. The aim of this special issue was to enable the analysis of this important and fascinating aspect of contemporary culture and to encourage a multifaceted examination of the concepts of exile and abandonment – geographical, temporal, physical, and conceptual. The topicality of these subjects was affirmed by a large number of papers, containing various theoretical approaches and methodological frameworks. The articles are classified in the six standard sections of the Philological Studies. The second issue of the magazine, although not thematic, unites a number of articles on Slavic literature, languages, folklore, and cultural history. A large number of associates from several European centers took part in its preparation, and we thank them on this occasion.
This issue of the journal was prepared by the editorial board of the Institute for Literature and Arts from Belgrade and was published with the participation and support of its permanent associates: the Institute of Macedonian Literature of the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, the Faculty of Philology of the Perm State National Research University, the Faculty of Philosophy of the University in Zagreb, and the Philosophical Faculty of the University in Ljubljana.

Dear colleagues,
We are glad to present a new edition of the journal “Philological studies”. Our publication remains a place where representatives of different humanitarian disciplines like Linguistics, literary studies, folklore studies, cultural history meet and share ideas. The international Slavic journal is open for dialogue with researchers who represent different scientific traditions and schools. Due to this, each issue shows a wide range of topical problems of modern Philology and related disciplines.
The first issue of the journal is devoted to the topic “Slavic cultures in transfer” (in the Russian version: “Transitions in Slavic cultures”). The articles included in this issue explore the dynamic processes in language, literature and cultural traditions. Authors are interested in interethnic and international interactions, foreign cultural influences and adoptions, mechanisms of adaptation of adopted elements to the new environment, translation questions, including closely related languages. Thirty-nine articles were published in two 2019 issues. We express our gratitude to the researchers, from Macedonia, Russia, Belarus, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia for their scientific works. This year's edition of the journal was prepared by the Faculty of Philology of Perm State National Research University. Philological StudiesVol 13 No 1 (2015)
Dear Readers,
For the first time this year, the journal Philological Studies is prepared and published by the Institute of literature and art of Belgrade, Serbia. The good practice of regional and international cooperation continues, since the humanities, by definition, suggest broader perspectives and interdisciplinarity. This edition of the journal is published in two issues with the same sections as in the last volumes.
We would like to thank the collaborators from Russia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Ukraine and Serbia for their contributions, which elucidate the phenomena of traditional and contemporary culture, through different methodological approaches. Moreover, we would like to thank the authors of the presentations, individual books, collections and conferences, because this kind of academic engagement is necessary in order to disseminate the latest scientific research to the general public. -

Philological StudiesVol 12 No 1 (2014)
Dear readers,
The meaning of every research work depends on the international collaboration, because no scientific area can spryly develop without promotion, communication and comparison to the cultural environments. We are very pleased that in this twelfth edition of the journal Philological Studies (www.philologicalstudies.org), the Institute of Macedonian Literature from the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, with its partners, in 2014 published 56 articles and papers by renowned and many young authors from different Slavic centres (Perm, Ljubljana, Skopje, Zagreb, Belgrade, Washington, Bratislava, Stip, Osijek, Maribor, Banja Luka, Bitola).
This year we have expanded our Editorial board by including the Institute for Literature and Arts from Belgrade (Serbia) as the fifth equal partner, along with the Institute of Macedonian Literature in Skopje (Macedonia), the Department of Philology at Perm State University (Russia), the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), and the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).
We can say that the content of this year’s edition of Philological Studies will acquire great interest in the world, because of the diversity and stratification of the presented spiritual wealth. We can also say that the presented material offers a unique perception of the civilization heritage, since there is a close examination of its characteristics in a modern manner with a critical spirit immanent to the present time. -

Philological StudiesVol 11 No 1 (2013)
We present you the 11th edition of the international interdisciplinary Slavistics journal Philological Studies (www.philologicalstudies.org), whose mission is centered on creating and promoting real values, while ushering in a scientific and cultural exchange among Slavic nations. This year’s edition, which brings forth around thirty articles and papers by both renowned and younger authors, was undertaken by the Institute of Macedonian Literature in Skopje (Macedonia), with the assistance of its partners: the Department of Philology at Perm State University (Russia), the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), and the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).
This year’s edition, in turn, focuses on culture studies topics, linguistic themes, as well as current trends that emphasize the significance of cultural policies based on the multicultural principle rather than fragmentation and conflicts, thus contributing to the cultural integration of Macedonia, Russia, Croatia, and Slovenia, i.e., strengthening the spirit of interculturalism which matches the needs of today’s dynamic world.
However, one novelty for this current edition of Philological Studies is its inclusion, indexing and archiving in the online library of Central and Eastern Europe (CEEOL), the Russian citation index (RINC), and the Croatian Portal for scientific journals Hrčak.
Thus, Philological Studies stands synonymous with a cultural and scientific valorization that has received international recognition. -

Philological StudiesVol 10 No 1 (2012)
