HELD CONFERENCE: CONTEMPORARY THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TRENDS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION AND REHABILITATION

Abstract

In the period between 16^th and 18^th of June 2016 year, Macedonian association of special educators and rehabilitators in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje and the Institute of Special Education and Rehabilitation held an international conference in Ohrid, on the topic: Contemporary theoretical and practical trends in special education and rehabilitation. Beside the domestic participants there were a lot of guests from many different countries: Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Great Britain, as well as representatives from the Ministry of education and science, Agency for international development of the USA (USAID) and European council in the Republic of Macedonia.
The event was opened by the Honorary president of the Macedonian association of special educators and rehabilitators Prof. Dr. Ljupcho Ajdinski and on behalf of the dean of the Faculty of philosophy in Skopje, Prof. Dr. Goran Ajdinski, a welcoming speech to the audience addressed assistant Prof. Dr. Olivera Rashikj-Canevska, followed by promotion of the book of papers by the editor in chief Prof. Dr. Risto Petrov.
After the opening ceremony, the conference started with nine plenary lectures. At the conference were presented 31 topics in five sessions:
Education of persons with disabilities, Clinical strategies and trends in the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, Socioeconomic aspects of the current situation of the persons with disabilities, Actualities in the rehabilitation and education. Beside the presentations in the sessions there were realized 3 workshops: Hyperactive dreamers in school by of Marko Ferek from Croatia, Brain gym – Majda Konchar from Slovenia and Strategy for work with autistic children aged 3 to 7 years – Jelena Panikj form the Republic of Serbia.
Productive discussion and conclusions by the present participants were realized during two roundtables: Education and professional status of the special educators and rehabilitators and speech therapists in the Republic of Macedonia and Education of the students with disabilities – defining our own model.
The conference was closed by awarding certificates to all participants and evaluation of the efficiency of the conference.
