The reform changes undergoing in Macedonian education have been emphasizing the need of closer view into the foreign educational systems. The article presents comparative analysis of the contemporaiy elementary education in Macedonia and the US as a country of the most influential educational system in the world. The main attention is focused on elaboration of three fundamental aspects of elementaiy education: principles, aims and priorities, organization of the school life and curriculum. The analysis of all these issues is based on statistical data, program documents, as well as author ’s personal obseiyations.
