After the conquest of Northern parts of Macedonia and its legal incorporation in medieval Serbia in 1299, Polog (North-Western region of Macedonia), has been involved in administrative structure of the Serbian state. According to the available sources, from the end of the XIII Century and in the first half of the XIV Century; Polog represented one administrative unit called,, ) Komi Полож'кл“ (Polog's zhoupa) which vanished in the second half of the XIV Century.
