REVOLUTIONARY IDEA AND WORK OF DAME GRUEV UP TO THE CREATING OF IMRO (1890-1893)

Dame Gruev belonged to the young generation Macedonian intellectual workers which realized that liberation o f Macedonia is task of Macedonians themselves. This task needs creating of a revolutionary organization. This idea appearedfor the veiy first time, in Gruevs mind very early (1890), during his studying in Sofia. In that direction was
forming o f Macedonian student society (MSS). However, working o f MSS was ceased in March 1891 because o f the arresting o f Dame Gruev elating with the assassination o f the Bulgarian minister o f finance, Christo Belchev. Immediately after his releasing Gruev went back in Macedonia where he started to work as a teacher, firstly in village of Smilevo and than in Prilep. In the meantime in Bitola he was attempting to form Teacher union on the revolutionary base. He was obsessed with the revolutionary idea during his stay, as a teacher, in Prilep. However owing to the conservative surroundings in Prilep unprepared to accept radical ideas, Gruev was forced to leave this Macedonian city. Few months later Gruev departed for Salonica (Thessaloniki) where on 23 October/ 4 November 1893 he placed the base of IMRO.
