Abstract

This study aims to analyze and interpret culture-specific items in translation. In the article, we seek to explain the nature of terms specific to the source culture and how these aspects are integrated into the target language culture. It focuses on the process of transforming such elements and adapting them to the norms of the target language. To this end, we analyze the Czech novel “Suzana’s Sigh “ by Jakuba Katálpa in relation to its Macedonian translation. Detecting culturally specific expressions will help us determine the relationship between the source and target language, as well as analyze the effects of translation on cultural values and contexts, i.e., how translation influences the transfer and interpretation of cultural characteristics from the source language to the target language.
