CELEBRATING THE WORLD AUTISM DAY

Abstract

Autism spectrum is very complex disorder that appears in many different types and manifestations, depending on which sensory systems and areas of the brain are affected. According to the complexity of this phenomenon, helping autistic children, teenagers and adults is chalenging task. Therefore, the symbol of the autism is a puzzle that comes in many different colors. The puzzle not only represents the individuality of the autism, but also the possibility to create more careful world by working together. 

After promoting 2^nd of April as an international autism day by the General Assembly of the UN, every year worldwide this date is celebrated as a day dedicated to the persons with autism.  The main goal for having an world autism day is to help autistic children, teenagers and adults to improve their quality of living, trough better fulfilled and productive life. Also to encourage and give parents of autistic children hope; to enable them to use more autistic tools and methods of treatment; to overcome the negative attitudes and prejudices of the society regarding the autism; to promote and respect the human rights for all; to support and stimulate further researches   in   order  to  better  promote  the phenomenon of autism; to determine the new possibilities   for   therapy;   to   manage   early diagnosis, intervention and primarily education of the general population, including special profiles which daily contact the persons with autism, such as the medical staff, teachers, pedagogues and else.

This year, for the first time The Macedonian Scientific Society of Autism will denote the World autism day in the country. The event will take place on the second of April, at the Skopje's city center along the st. Macedonia, near the Mother Theresa's monument between 11:00 and 15:00 o’clock. The day will be celebrated by distributing to the visitors more than 300 balloons and pamphlets containing the basic information regarding autism and autism spectrum disorder. At the same time, the bystanders and the visitors will be welcomed with pleasent music by famous national artists. There are expectations for good medium coverage of the manifestation, which will contribute to greater public awareness in the society regarding this delicate issue. The event is expected to become a tradition which will be organized every year in different manner and at different locations. The main goal of the event is to continue with improving the living quality of the persons with autism.

The entire event will be sponsred and supported by the first lady of the Republic of Macedonia, Mrs Maja Ivanova and with support from the mayor of the municipality Center – Mr. Vladimir Todorovikj.
