STANISŁAW MŁODOŻENIEC: CHALLENGES IN TRANSLATING AND THE MYSTERY OF “MOSKWA”

Abstract

This paper presents the Polish poet and futurist Stanisław Młodożeniec and his poem “moskwa”, together with the various problems connected to them. In order to give a complete picture of Młodożeniec’s work, we will provide a brief overview of Futurism and its representatives in Poland. The poem “moskwa” will be gradually analyzed and broken down part by part into smaller units that will be explained separately. Among all the riddles that Młodożeniec has set, we will discover his secret tool and the key to the poem’s message – Morse code. Using the aforementioned Morse code, we will have the opportunity to examine the translation into Macedonian, which implements Młodożeniec’s writing style. All questions and answers regarding the choice of words and equivalents in the translation will be clarified here, as well as possible variants. In addition to the translation and analysis of the poem, we will attempt to create a separate work using Młodożeniec’s style that will, in a similar way, reflect the situation in Mace-donia. The aim of this paper is to outline how a complex work such as “moskwa” can be mirrored and translated, which tools will be used, and how understanding the message and the writer’s mental character are key steps toward a successful literary translation.
