HELD ROUND TABLE ON: UPBRINGING AND EDUCATION–RIGHT AND OBLIGATION FOR CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS

Abstract

In organization of the National coordinative body for equal rights of disability people of Republic of Macedonia, established by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, a round table was held in June 2004 discussing the issues connected with education and rehabilitation of persons with developmental disabilities and special educational needs.
At the round table took part a significant number of known experts and other professional and competent persons and they, with their reports and discussion contributed the actualization of a great number of issues that bother disability persons. A special stress was shown for respect and implementation of international documents (declarations, resolutions and other) in national legislatures and their practical realization, especially in our country.

In the analyses of the present situation, the needs for physiognomy of national strategy for treatment and education of disability people were emphasized which would include the latest world experiences, verified in the practice. A great number of conclusions and suggestions were given, especially from expert aspect which would help the improvement of the complete social care about disability people.
