THE EXPERIENCE FROM THE OPENING OF THE THIRD CYCLE NEGOTIATIONS FOR ENLARGEMENT OF THE NORT ATLANTIC ORGANIZATION

With the invitation of Albania and Croatia to join the Alliance, the new third cycle of negotiations is being opened for enlargement of the Northatlantic Alliance from the end of the cold war until the NATO Summit in Bucurest, from 2nd to 4th April 2008.
In this paper an effort has been made on the basis of analysis of the researched material and in connection with the military organization (proportions, expences, aktivities in the peace operations, etc.) of the countries from the Adriatic Group, and wider, to state the real situations as response to the question for need of possible corrections, which will be put in function of the defence needs and interests of the Republic of Macedonia. The starting points were tha awarenes and experiences of the countries and in connection with the military organization of the first and second round of enlargement. Also we started from the knowledge that the benchmarks of standards for acceptance had increased from one to another round of negotiations for membership. There was also awareness that from the invitation for becoming member state and after its acceptance, there was space for possible corrections and additions.
