Dear readers,

We are pleased to present you the online edition of two new issues of Philological Studies, an international Slavic studies journal.

The first issue features twelve academic articles and three reviews in the field of Slavic literature, languages, cultures, and cultural history. The articles are classified into the journal's regular sections: The following subjects are on offer: Philosophical and Cultural Problems, History and Philology, Language in a Historical and Cultural Context, Literature in an Intercultural Context, Contemporary Society in Culture, Language, and Literature and Reviews, Reports, and Notes.

The second thematic issue is entitled Slavic Cultural Contacts: Intertwining Cultures and is devoted to the issue of intercultural connections. The publication comprises ten scientific contributions and six longer reports and reviews.

This year's double issue was produced in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and the following partners: the Institute for Macedonian Literature at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje (Macedonia), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), and the Institute for Literature and Art in Belgrade (Serbia).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved, especially the authors, who have once again confirmed the importance of regional and international cooperation in the field of humanities with their contributions.

Philological studies (FS) is an international peer-reviewed electronic slavistics journal in the field of humanities, offering a narrower range of scientific research of philosophy, literature, cultural history, linguistics through the following rubrics:

1.     Philosophic and Cultural Issues

2.     History and Philology

3.     „Word“ in an Historical and Cultural Context (comparative aspects)

4.     Literature in Intercultural Context

Philological Studies is the result of an inter-university cooperation between the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), the Institute of Macedonian Literature at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (Macedonia), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), the Faculty of Philology at Perm State University (Russia), and the Institute for Literature and Arts in Belgrade (Serbia).

Philological Studies is an open-access journal (DOAJ), meaning all content is freely available to users and their institutions. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Philological Studies is published annually in two issues. Official languages of the journal are Macedonian, Russian, Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, and English. The journal accepts only original articles not previously published in any language and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The author (or authors) is the copyright holder and retains publishing rights. The journal does not levy any charges to authors to submit and publish a paper.

Philological Studies are included, indexed, and archived in the following services: Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL), MLA, EBSCO, PROQUEST, GALE,  ErihPlus, Russian Science Citation Index (RINC), Portal of Scientific Journals of Croatia „Hrčak”, COBISS.MK
