Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

Authors

Authors submit original works to the journal based on the results of their own research. Persons who have made a significant contribution to the paper are listed as co-authors. Along with the article, authors (and co-authors, if any) should submit a completed Paper Submission Form, which confirms the author’s consent to publish the paper.

The journal accepts previously unpublished scientific papers. Papers that extensively use larger parts of the authors’ previously published papers are not accepted. Using larger parts also implies a compilation—a text composed of fragments from a published monograph or a large number of previously published articles. Plagiarism is not allowed, as is excessive quoting of other people’s papers (one-third or more of the entire paper). All quotations, cited excerpts, and materials must have cited authors and sources. If the share of someone else's work is too large, it is recommended to shorten the citations and increase the volume of the original text.

The author should have all necessary permissions for the use of borrowed materials and materials of other authors that he uses in his work (illustrations, etc.). The author guarantees that the article does not contain information that is not subject to publication in the open press, including that which contains or represents confidential information.

The list of literature should include only the works cited in the work, as well as links to the pages and sources from which it is cited if it is a question of Internet sources.

The author is recommended to indicate, in the text, the sources of financial support for the conducted research and scholarships, if any. Also, gratitude can be expressed to colleagues who contributed to or helped with the work on the text but are not co-authors.

By submitting the manuscript and the application form to the Editorial Board, the author officially agrees to the publication of his work in "Philological Studies". The authors are the copyright holders and retain all rights to publish and use the article. The authors have the right to withdraw the article at any time up to the moment of publication on the journal's website, provided that they have previously notified the journal's Editorial Board in writing.

Editorial Board

All papers submitted to the Editorial Board are first read by its members and collaborators to determine whether they address the relevant issues and whether they correspond to the format of the journal. The editorial board of "Philological Studies" guarantees that the consideration of submitted papers and their reviews does not depend on: commercial interests, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, political views, or other factors. The only criterion for selection is the paper’s academic level.

Depending on the review, the article can be immediately sent for publication, rejected, or sent to the author for editing and finalization. In case of disagreement with the reviewer's remarks, the author has the right to justify his/her views. If contradictory opinions are received from the reviewers, the text is referred to a third reviewer or the final decision is based on a vote of the members of the Editorial Board, after separate consideration.

Reviewers

Articles sent to the Editorial Board undergo a double anonymous review process. The names of the reviewers should not be known to the author of the article and vice versa. The review deadline is three to four weeks. Reviewers can be members of the Editorial Board and authors of the journal in which they have previously published. Where necessary, specialists from other organizations, cities, and countries are appointed as reviewers.

Reviewers should be specialists in the subject-thematic area to which the article relates. The Editorial Board should prevent any conflict of interest in relation to the given scientific paper and its author.

The reviewer is obliged to draw the attention of the members of the Editorial Board to any substantial similarity or identification between the manuscript being reviewed and any other publication known to them. The reviewer is also obliged to keep the work entrusted to him confidential, not to transfer the manuscript entrusted to him for review to third parties, and not to publish the information contained in it before publication.

Reviewers should provide an objective, impartial, and reasoned assessment of the work. The comments should be formulated correctly, so that the assessment of the work refers only to the text of the article and its content. The review should be written in good faith, and the stated comments are intended to help the authors correct the identified shortcomings and improve the article before it is published on the publisher's website and made available to the broader public.

Articles are published free of charge. The content is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License.
