Abstract

On December 3, 2009, the Faculty of Philosophy from the University of St. Cyril and Methodius for the Institute of Special Education and Rehabilitation held the annual ceremony for the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities.”
The ceremony was opened by the Dean of Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Goran Ajdinski, PhD. Representatives from high national institutions were in attendance. Guests were honored with speeches from the President of the Macedonian Parliament Mr. Trajko Slavevski, the Minister for Labor and Social Politics Mr. Dzheljalj Bajrami, and the rector of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius Dr. Velimir Stojkovski, PhD. Among those in attendance were the Vice-Dean’s Assistant, Professor Nikola Zhezhov, Assistant Professor Toni Milevski, professors from all institutes of the faculty, students and representatives from different institutions for people with disabilities in the Republic of Macedonia, and finally, people with disabilities.   
The ceremony was enriched with the presentation of the 2004-2008 “Best Student Award,” presented to student Blagica Stanoevska, along with the student performance put on by the special primary school “Maca Ovcharova” from Veles. 
Lastly, the third of December was designated as the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” by the Associations of the Disabled Persons of the Republic of Macedonia from the humanitarian organization “Dare Dzhambaz” and by the Republic Center for Supporting Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (MESSAGE-PORAKA).
