Abstract

In this text, authors are examining the criminological background of aggravated cases of the
most serious crime against human life of outstanding severity, the crime of multiple homicide,
in Hungary. Processing the full range of data of the period 2000-2012, authors have
performed a detailed analysis of 217 cases, 250 perpetrators and 532 victims’ altogether. The
research aimed to explore the legal assessment and the perpetration motives of the crime, the
perpetrators’ social and psychological backgrounds as well as the victims’ characteristics.
