Abstract

In this paper it will be analyzed the rescemantization of the character of Penelope in the contemporary Albanian and Macedonian poetry. It will be analyzed why and how contemporary authors include the character of Penelope in their poetry. From the Albanian literature we will analyze the poetry of Lindita Ahmeti and from Macedonian literature we will analyze the sonnets of Lidija Dimkovska, wich will also be compared with the poems of Ana Dimishkovska. From these analyses it will be concluded that Penelope in the contemporary Macedonian and Albanian poetry doesn’t remain completely loyal to the character presented in the Odyssey, she gains new nontraditional values and her story new interpretations.
